Diwali is one of the most-awaited and biggest festivals in India that comes loaded with a lot of enthusiasm, very high spirits, and endless joys. Every year I used to celebrate Diwali in my hometown with my cousins and family. But this time I planned to go to some desert places to experience differently. So after research, I got to know Jaisalmer is one of the best places to experience the beauty of the city and also to celebrate any functions or festivals. So our family decided to go to Jaisalmer before the day of Diwali.
I booked the desert camp in Jaisalmer prior in advance as per the Jaisalmer tour package. Due to the festival peak time advance booking is best. Jaisalmer desert camp price is best for all the people. We traveled to Jaisalmer by train. After reached the Jaisalmer railway station the guide received us with a warm welcome. The guide has been arranged by the company along with the cab. I demanded a cab with air-conditioned facilities. He dropped us at the camp.
After reaching the camp by the evening they checked everyone with thermal scanning and they also provided hand wash and sanitizer at the entrance. Then it is a must to wear face masks as per the government rules and regulations. The guidelines for covid are very well followed here. They also maintained social distance with everyone. After checking all these basic rules. They welcomed us in a traditional ceremony and the women who welcomed us wore traditional Rajasthan attire. They provided us with some snacks and drinks. And then we had some entertainment like cultural events before the dinner. The events had folk music, women dancing with pots, gymnastics, etc. The local musicians and dancers brought their Rajasthan culture into the atmosphere through these performances. All these were done by the trained professionals. After enjoying these events we went to have dinner, the food was delicious with Rajasthan taste. Next to dinner we all went to bed and slept under the shining stars with the hope of a new start. It is one of the best experiences I had in sand dunes Jaisalmer.
The next day is Diwali, I felt being in Jaisalmer during Diwali was a treat to the senses. We woke up with a plan of enjoying the upcoming experience. After having a special breakfast at the camp we all went for a Jaisalmer desert safari in the sand dunes. The camel safari in Jaisalmer was one of the most famous activities, so we sit at the back of the camel and enjoyed the moments of the camel ride and the silence of the surroundings. And also we tried some more thrill rides in the desert like jeep safari, Para motoring, quad biking, etc.
After that, we went to sightseeing places in the city through a jeep safari in Jaisalmer. The entire city shimmers in the light of lamps and artificial lights. The Diwali feel started from the evening, where people came together and burst crackers in the street. And the sweet shop was also crowded by a lot of people. The people in the city wore bright colored dresses and some wore the traditional dresses of Rajasthan. The candles and Diya’s are placed in every nook and corner of the house which gave heavenly look to the whole scenario. It was a beautiful moment to enjoy the vibe of colorful Diwali.
Not just the households even the markets are also decked up with colorful lights and flowers. The ancient cultural heritage also lightened up during Diwali. The entire fort looked so bright with the lights. It looks so attractive standing tall and proud at the center of the city in Jaisalmer.
We also interacted with the local people and shared wishes and they let us celebrate Diwali with them by sharing sweets and crackers. The people in Jaisalmer treat and welcome outsiders in a good manner. They are very innocent and good people to get along with.
After the enjoyment in the city place, we came back to the camp in Jaisalmer at the night time, where they organized a Diwali celebration. They decorated with lights, arrangement of crackers and sweets, etc. To keep the environment lively and entertained they organized various events where the tourists can also participate and enjoy the moments and take those moments as memories forever. We participated in those events and it was so much fun that we had together and also we took some pictures of our own. We had a set of crackers and burst those in the ground with a blast of sound which was a great experience. It was wonderful to celebrate the Diwali event in the desert with the new people. After the celebration, we went to the camp and slept. Then next day we packed up and got back to the railway station with a bag full of awesome memories.
